"Chevel" - is 3yo Quarterhorse Stallion who has been handled and started under saddle but his handlers have found it difficult to have him lunge. He prefers to hang with the handler and up close and personal, totally opposite to Genesis in the previous Gallery. Kylie also owns Chevel, and she goes from one horse that is extremely difficult to connect with, to one that is extremely difficult disconnect from..............
...............and a Stallion at that.................
Here Paul is giving Chevel his first lunging lesson, by asking him to do a mini-lunge.

As Chevel accepts the mini-lunge and walks-on at a comfortable pace with very little persuasion, Paul will increase the size of the circle until Chevel is lungeing on the end of a long-lead at the walk trot and canter.
Kylie has asked paul to assist her with handling Chevel because she needed to improve her confidence with handling a Stallion. Here she is leading him off from a walk, but there is just too much slack in the lead rope and she is too far away from Chevel to influence the required amount of leadership.

Paul shows Kylie the best way to hold the lead rope in the right hand, with the rope coiled correctly in the left hand.

Then they are off working in a much better fashion together with Kylie more in charge and with her confidence up at a higher level.

Much better Kylie, well done........................

Horse handlers also need to work on BOTH Sides of the horse,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

.....................Meet gentle ''Shilo''...................... Shilo is a 3yo Quarterhorse Filly, and has an absolutely lovely gentle nature, BUT, she was roughly started by someone and has a fear of Men and also is head-shy and body-shy of ropes, which suggests that she may have been hit with a rope at some stage.
Paul has been given the task to re-start her and the first thing he must do is gain her trust and confidence in him.
Paul is using one of his relaxing techniques to gain ''Shilo's'' trust..................

''Oh'', says Shilo, ''this guy is not so bad after all''...................................................

Here the bonding process begins.......................................................................

Riding ''Sahmika'' is Teneille, who is doing a wonderful job in helping Paul continue Sahmika's education.

Sahmika, is a 10yo TB Mare who was bought by Paul when she was a green-broke 4yo. He continued her education, but when she was put in foal, she lost the foal when it died inside her and caused her substantial toxic poisoning and advanced laminitis, nearly resulting in her death. Fortunately with excellent nursing and care and an improved ''natural'' diet she survived. Sahmika was out of work for 4 years and is now slowly getting back on track to finish her training.
